- Micro, small and medium enterprises.
- PAN and GSTIN are required for Udyam Registration from 1 April 2021, where GST applies to the business

- Open udyamregistration.gov.in and choose New Registration, or UAM Migration if you already have Udyog Aadhaar
- Verify the Aadhaar number with the one-time password
- Enter PAN, and GSTIN where the business has one, so investment and turnover are pulled in automatically
- Complete the self-declaration and submit
- Download the Udyam certificate, which carries a permanent registration number and a QR code
In person, no office visit is needed. District Industries Centres and MSME Development and Facilitation Offices can guide owners who need help.

Worth knowing
Registration is voluntary. The MSMED (Amendment) Act 2026 gives the free, voluntary national registration platform a basis in law from 15 October 2026.
